Definition
The EMS Engineer – Senior Leader is a split role engineering position responsible for majority high level production. Paired responsibilities include standards development/design, quality control and assurance, plus interoffice personnel training. EMS Engineer – Senior Leader will perform work under the guidance and leadership of the Engineering Manager or the EMS Operations Department manager. All work must meet or exceed the requirements of the LSI Installation and Commissioning Standards.
The EMS Engineer – Senior Leader responsibilities include but are not limited to: all production responsibilities of EMS Engineer – Level I, II, and III. Role responsibility sheets for each engineering level will be provided. Standards development and design pertain to both ALC and Distech product lines. Standards are ever evolving, and assignments for development and design will be assigned. Quality control and assurance pertains to all outgoing product being thoroughly checked, simulated, and adjusted prior to transmission to necessary parties. Interoffice personnel training will be both pop-up and scheduled training (in-person and virtual) to develop our current and future engineers.
EMS Engineer – Senior Leader will be the one of two direct resources provided to our engineering staff. Any and all engineering related questions or issues shall be pointed to either EMS Engineer – Senior Leader or EMS Engineering Manager prior to further escalation.
Responsibilities
Basic Skills / Technical Abilities:
- All EMS Engineer – Level I, II, and III Responsibilities.
Leadership:
- Provide necessary communication to Engineering Manager or EMS Operations Manager upon request.
- Teach and enforce LSI Engineering Standards (ALC and Distech) throughout all assigned tasks for self and team members.
- Be a consummate leader. Lead by example, and motivate team members to improve at all times.
- Monitor performance of each individual project by establishing benchmarks. Review & record as required.
- Understand all project assignments and delegate responsibilities appropriately.
- Seeks input from team members/other teams on critical decisions. Utilizes all resources when needed.
- Build a routine to have daily/weekly availability for QA/QC or outgoing product check. Split responsibility with EMS Engineering Manager.
- Set aside scheduled times to train team members appropriately on necessary topics. Determination of topics will be self-derived as seen necessary. Build schedules with the Engineering Manager and EMS Ops Manager.
- Create processes to track overall team development progress. Provide communication to Engineering and EMS Ops managers.
Production/Personnel Development:
- All EMS Engineer – Level I, II, and III Technical Abilities.
- Create a productive work environment, both remotely and locally when applicable.
- Create schedules and milestones for assigned projects and tasks. Communicate issues, milestones, breakthroughs, etc.
- Have the ability to lead productive group discussions, team meetings, project meetings, etc.
- Be aware of product related changes (Automated Logic Corp, Distech, and other equipment) which are used in or needs to be implemented into LSI standards. Teach and make others aware of upcoming new designs, additions or strategies.
- Work well with field operations employees, project management and technician levels.
